Summer's Bounty

This is the second sinkfull of cukes I have pulled out of the Earth. I already have some Dill pickles canned, so now I am going to make some Dill and Sweet relish. What is amazing to me is that they just keep a truckin'!

The afternoon after we picked ourselves tired, there was a nice refreshing rainstorm. Every time it rains there is a rainbow in the same spot! I have never heard of that from anybody else, but hey, why not?? I don't know if you can see it, but it is actually a double!!

Now, mind you, this is my first year to seriously garden. I have always been a container farmgirl; we lived in the city and as we all know there is no room to move in town, let alone grow something beautiful. So, after moving out to the country, I was pleased as punch to start gardening! This is also the second round of squash. I have found so many appeasing ways to cook this veggie, but DH and I are starting to get squashed out! I'm freezing this batch for casseroles and whatnot once Sister Summer gives way to Auntie Autumn. Yumm-O!!!
All in all, I love becoming a farmgirl! I love the feeling that I get when I see a perfect squash, or pull the perfect pepper...nothing gives me more satisfaction than knowing I can feed my family with my hard work and patience!
Until next time...

Le First Post!

I have finally given in and created my blog! I had one about a year ago, before the "blog-plosion" this spring. Kinda like being country before it was cool! I love to write down my thoughts...I get that from my father I guess...he is a greater poet than he is recognized for. The funny thing about growing into myself is that I have learned I am country, and it is cool! I am trying to get back to the root of things and the way of life our grandparents knew. I feel pride in learning all of the new avenues of me: mother, teacher, farmgirl, friend. Who could ask for a better list of labels than that??? I really enjoy all of the "people" I am becoming. Sounds a bit Sybil doesn't it?? Don't worry...fever doesn't come with my fits....yet! Until next time....
